Daft as a Brush

27th February 2018

The Year 3 and Year 5 members of the school council were invited to visit ‘Daft as a Brush House’ in Gosforth.

This was an opportunity to visit the Bluebell bus before it embarks on a 2 year and 7,000 mile adventure to travel the length of the coastal footpath walk of Great Britain and Ireland starting on Monday 5th March 2018. The journey is to promote nationally, the charity Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care transport service. This is a free of charge in the Tyne and Wear area, for cancer patients that require to get to and from hospital for treatment.

The charity proposes that with the Bluebell bus and its travelling team it will get the word out about how 'HUBS' can be managed and ran locally, to create a Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care service in their locality and therefore collectively, provide nationally one million high quality cancer patient care journeys each year.

The Bluebell bus team is aiming to raise £4 million to take the Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care nationwide with the creation of a network of hubs and the provision of support, financial and administrative, to those persons who wish to set up and operate Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care service in new areas.
