Year 5 Whitby Residential

16th May 2018

Last week, Year 5 commenced upon their annual epic journey into the distant realms of the Vikings and Saxons - by travelling to Whitby. The trip was especially memorable even before we set off! This was due to a mistake by the bus company, which meant were more kids than seats on the bus – the teachers’ faces must have been a picture!

Nevertheless, the experience gave the Kingston Park spirit a chance to shine, and by Durham, all of us could see the funny side. Subsequently, we had a great time at both the original Jorvik Viking museum and the Jorvik Dig experience.

The next day found us at the Ryedale Folk museum , where we carried out a variety of activities (including the K.P.P.S tradition of a maypole dance) and on Friday we were at the North Yorkshire Moors Centre in Danby.  The weather was beautiful for our walk over the moors.

We returned tired but exhilarated. Roll on Malham in September…
